Dietrich Grabas, born 1950

Sign and poster painter for DEWAG Advertising Berlin (1971-76); first artistic activities
Evening studies at the art academy Berlin-Weißensee (1975-78)
Graphic designer at the Humboldt University in Berlin (1977-86)
Ban of employment as a visual artist in 1982 and 1983 (rejection of the application for membership in the Association of Visual Artists on political grounds)
Released from GDR citizenship and emigrated to West Berlin (1986)
Since 1987 member of the Professional Association of Visual Artists (painter & graphic artist)
Many years of activity as a lecturer at the youth art school in Berlin-Charlottenburg
Previously working as a freelance artist in Berlin

Exhibitions

Numerous solo exhibitions in East and West Berlin, Warsaw, Budapest, Nice.
Participation in various group exhibitions, including the exhibition “Expatriated. Artists from the GDR and from the Soviet sector of Berlin 1949-1989" in Dresden, Albertinum from October 7 to December 12, 1990 and in Hamburg, Kleine Deichtorhalle from January 10 to March 1, 1991
Most recently at the exhibition "The Wild 80s in East & West German Painting" from December 3, 2016 - March 12, 2017 in the Potsdam Museum - Forum for Art and History
